Former Providence goaltender Dylan Wells has transferred to the University of Southern Maine. The Nashville, Tenn. native dressed, but did not see game action last season as a freshman for the Friars. Wells was stuck behind Calgary Flames prospect and reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Year Jon Gillies and incoming freshman Nick Ellis.

Wells played one season of junior hockey with the Swan Valley Stampeders in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League before a one-year stint with the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

Wells will be eligible to play immediately at USM for head coach coach Jeff Beaney. The Huskies finished last in the ECAC East last season in part due to poor goaltending by three freshmen.
