UMass-Lowell player Josh Holmstrom victim of assault by owner of local bar

UMass-Lowell rising senior Joshua Holmstrom was attacked by a local bar owner following an altercation he attempted to break up back in May. The bar owner was recently charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to a report in the Lowell Sun, UMass-Lowell forward Joshua Holmstrom was the victim of an assault and battery at a bar near campus on May 4th.

Holmstrom, from Colorado Springs, just completed his junior season for the River Hawks. According to Lyle Moran of the Lowell Sun, Kevin Hayhurst, the owner of Finn's Pub, attacked Holmstrom. It was supposedly after Holmstrom attempted to break up a fight.

The River Hawks, under second year head coach Norm Bazin, advanced to the 2013 Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, Penn. for the first time in school history.
