BOSTON -- The No. 19 Boston University Terriers and Northeastern Huskies played to an even second period at Matthews Arena, entering the second intermission with the same score with which the period started - a 2-1 lead for the visitors.
BU held a slight advantage in shots on goal in the period as the hosts closed the gap to 11-10.
NU had what was likely the best chance of the period in the final 2:30 as senior Robbie Vrolyk found a lane to the net with traffic, but could not find a seam to knot a backhand shot through to tie the game.
On a pair of late power plays, the Huskies had several whacks at the net, but could not beat BU freshman Matt O'Connor, who kept the sheet status quo in the period with saves on all ten Huskies shots for a total of 21 through two periods.
