Boston University freshman goaltender Matt O'Connor will be out indefinitely with a collapsed lung, according to a report by The Boston Hockey Blog.
The Toronto, Ontario native has split goaltending duties this season with fellow classmate Sean Maguire. O'Connor saw more action in the first half than Maguire, but the two have rotated for much of the second half. Maguire played both games this weekend against Vermont.
The two have similar numbers so there should not be a drop off in the Terrier net. O'Connor's play was much more consistent with better results in the first half than it has been lately.
Maguire, a Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick, will have to carry the load the rest of the way. The Powell River, British Columbia native stopped 49 of 50 shots faced in Friday's win over Vermont.
Boston University sits in fifth place in Hockey East, but is within striking distance of the top four which would mean home ice in the first round of the playoffs. The Terriers play a home-and-home series with last place Northeastern this weekend.
