BOSTON -- The Vermont Catamounts scored just over halfway through the second period, entering the intermission with a 2-1 lead over the host Northeastern Huskies at Matthews Arena. UVM held true command with a 14-5 edge in shots on goal in the stanza.

Neither side saw much in the way of offense in the early going, with even shots on goal looking hard to come by.

Perhaps the best chance came for the Huskies eight minutes in as freshman Mike Gunn found classmate Mike McMurtry on the right wing, but his shot sailed untouched through the crease of the Catamounts' Brody Hoffman. With NU senior Chris Rawlings hanging next to the right post with 9:30 left, UVM's Matt White poked at a loose puck that squirted across the crease.

On a delayed penalty call at the 11:29 mark, the visitors took their first lead of the night as senior Ben Albertson picked up a loose puck in the slot and shot over Rawlings from the slot with traffic for his first goal of the season.

The Catamounts came inches close to a two-goal lead with about 5:15 to go as junior Nick Bruneteau's shot from the point found its way all the way to goal, before hitting iron and staying out of the net.
