Hockey East Weekly Awards: BC Looking Good Again as Goalies Pull in a Haul

Boston College brought home a couple more honors, as goalies continue to be the talk of the Hockey East town.

For the second consecutive week (and, we can only imagine, the second of many, many times this season) the Boston College Eagles have been named Hockey East's team of the week. But they weren't the only repeat honoree. UNH goaltender Casey DeSmith again earned co-defensive player of the week honors, this time opposite his adversary from last weekend's home-and-home with Northeastern, senior goaltender Bryan Mountain.

Mountain was put between the pipes of Northeastern's eventual 4-3 loss to UNH on Friday night in Durham, and while he did give up the game-winning goal, he rebounded strong and shut the door on Saturday night, stopping all 44 shots that he saw from the Wildcats, while DeSmith kept all 34 Northeastern shots out of the net as the teams skated to their first ever 0-0 draw.

BC senior Goaltender Parker Milner brought home co-player of the Week honors after backstopping the Eagles to a shutout win over Lowell on Friday night and keeping them in an electric, 6-3 game on Sunday. He shared the honors with Merrimack's junior forward Mike Collins, who had two goals and three assists in the Warriors' three-point weekend against Vermont.

Providence netminder Jon Gillies (Calgary Flames) took home rookie of the week honors for the second straight week, after leading the Friars to the brink of the USCHO rankings after 3-2 and 3-0 victories over Maine on the weekend.
