Former University of Denver coach George Gwozdecky has been hired as the head coach of Valor Christian High School, a parochial prep school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Gwozdecky has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning. Gwozdecky, a 1978 Wisconsin alum, won two NCAA National Championships at DU in 2004 and 2005. Including stints at Miami and Division III Wisconsin-River Falls, Gwozdecky had a career 592-390-85 record as a collegiate head coach.
Could Gwozdecky be waiting for a potential opportunity that could open up at Wisconsin following this season? The Badgers might be looking for a new coach with the way things appear to be heading in Madison. Mike Eaves is definitely more squarely on the hot seat than any other coach in college hockey.
