Hill-Murray senior defenseman Jacob Olson has been named the 2015 recipient of the Reed Larson Award, given to the state of Minnesota's top high school senior defenseman. The award takes into account both on-ice and off-ice components.
Olson is committed to play his college hockey at Harvard. In the award press release, his head coach, Bill Lechner, described Olson's game thusly:
“Jacob is a big, strong, hard-working defenseman. He is the complete package of a true defenseman. He takes pride in taking away space without the puck, but is not afraid to get involved in the offensive flow and puck distribution. Jacob is a very physical defenseman, but knows how far the rules allow.”
This is the third year the award has been handed out, with previous winners being Eden Prairie's Luc Snuggerud(2014), and Grand Rapids' Jake Bischoff(2013).
