Calvin Spencer Signs with Seattle of WHL

The big forward from Champlin Park High School moves on to the WHL.

Matt Christians

Chaplin Park High School senior forward Calvin Spencer has signed with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, and is expected to be in their lineup as soon as this coming weekend.

Spencer scored 7 goals and 13 assists in 25 games for Champlin Park as a junior last year. He skated for Team Northwest in the Upper Midwest Elite League this past fall where he scored 4 goals and 6 assists in 21 games. Listed at a hair shy of 6'1" and 192 lbs., Spencer isn't really known as a big scoring threat, but can be a punishing physical player that could potentially thrive in a situation where he is asked to play more of a checking role. Spencer was ranked as the 31st best senior in our recent Minnesota High School player rankings.
