St. Lawrence senior defenseman Gavin Bayreuther has signed a NHL entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars, according to multiple sources.
The Canaan, NH native had eight goals and 21 assists in his final season, good for the team lead on the Saints. He finished his collegiate career with 35 goals and 76 assists for 111 points in 142 games.
Bayreuther was ranked No. 48 in the final rankings put out by NHL Central Scouting prior to the 2014 NHL Draft, but he ended up not being selected. He has exceptional vision and a good shot from the point.
He’ll be headed to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ AHL affiliate, on an ATO for the remainder of the season. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Buffalo and New Jersey were the other two teams most in the hunt for his services.
