Taverner was a junior forward that had played in 21 games this season for the Bobcats, registering three goals and five assists. His best season at Quinnipiac was last year, when he scored six goals and nine assists in 37 games for the national runner-up.
Quinnipiac currently sits with a record of 16-12-2 and in fifth place in the ECAC, needing to win the ECAC playoffs in order to qualify for the NCAA tournament.
