Quinnipiac senior goalie Michael Garteig has signed a one-year NHL contract with the Vancouver Canucks. Garteig is a native of Prince George, British Columbia.
Garteig was a three-year starter for the Bobcats and put up outstanding numbers while leading the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament in each of his three years as starter, including a trip to the national title game this past year.
Garteig's best statistical season was this past one when he posted a 1.91 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
Garteig joins the Vancouver organization which recently signed Boston College goalie Thatcher Demko, though Garteig is on a one-year deal, meaning he'd be free find the most optimal situation for himself following next season.
