This year's Mayors Cup game between Union and RPI wasn't as ugly as last year's game, but the usual high emotions of the rivalry game were still present, even with Union scoring a relatively easy 8-3 victory in Saturday's game.
RPI's Jake Wood was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct for checking from behind in the game's final minute with the score already well out of hand. Today, the ECAC added a two-game suspension to Wood for the hit.
Wood will miss RPI's one game next weekend, when they travel to Dartmouth, as well as the first game of their weekend road trip the following week when they play at St. Lawrence. Wood has played in 23 of RPI's 27 games this season, scoring three goals and assist.
