Freshman forward Kevin Shier has left the Union College hockey program after notifying head coach Rick Bennett of his decision on Sunday. The Toronto, Ontario native had just two assists in 13 games played with the Dutchmen this season. He arrived in Schenectady following a three-year junior hockey career in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) with the Aurora Tigers and Toronto Patriots.
Shier played in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Quinnipiac before informing Bennett of his decision to move on and go back to his native Toronto. Ryan Fay of the Union Hockey Blog has more on the story, including quotes from Shier.
