TROY, NY -- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has hired former Denver University captain Andy Thomas to be the new Hockey Operations Coordinator. The Bow, NH native will oversee the video coordination, pre-game scouting and other tasks for both the men's and women's hockey programs at RPI.
Thomas was recruited to DU by RPI head coach Seth Appert while the Engineer bench boss was an asistant to George Gwozdecky. Appert was the Pioneers' assistant for Thomas' first two seasons in a DU uniform.
Thomas, a fourth round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Draft, played four seasons in the AHL and ECHL before finishing his minor pro career in Europe.
