Fresh off the school's first ever national championship last season, Union College announced that they were extending the contract of head coach Rick Bennett two years, making his contract good through the 2021-22 season.
Bennett led the Dutchmen through an amazing run this past season, though the season was not without its' valleys. Bennett was suspended for four games this season--two by the school, and two by the ECAC--for his involvement in a post-game fight against rival RPI last January.
The contract extension provides some reassurance that Bennett will stay at Union after his team's run last year made him a hot speculative candidate for any potential future job opening in college hockey.
