LAKE PLACID, NY -- The 2014 ECAC Hockey Tournament returns to Lake Placid for the first time since 2002 after a hiatus in which the league's penultimate event moved to Albany and Atlantic City.
Two-time defending champion Union College, the No. 1 seed, is back to defend its title. The Dutchmen face the league's most historically dominant team in the postseason, the No. 4 Cornell Big Red, in the first semifinal.
No. 2 Colgate and No. 3 Quinnipiac square off in the second semifinal from the 1980 Rink at Herb Brooks Arena, host of the 1980 Olympics where the United States defeated Russia in the semifinals en route to an improbably Gold Medal, recalled in the movie Miracle.
