After initially not adding supplemental discipline to Union head coach Rick Bennett and RPI head coach Seth Appert, ECAC Hockey has changed its tune in regards to their actions at the end of The Mayor's Cup game last Saturday.
In a statement released Wednesday (January 29, 2014), the conference suspended Bennett for two additional games and Appert for one.
"ECAC Hockey has continued to review the entire situation that occurred Saturday," said Commissioner Steve Hagwell in the statement. "After additional review and consideration, and discussions with league administrators, additional sanctions have been assessed.
"The league members pride themselves on adhering to the highest level of sportsmanship. Those objectives were not attained Saturday."

Bennett was previously suspended by Union for two games without pay after having to be restrained at the end of his team's 2-1 loss. He will miss the Dutchmen's games this weekend against St. Lawrence and Clarkson in addition to February 7-8 contests versus Brown and Yale.
"On behalf of Union College and the men's hockey team, I apologize for my actions and behavior after last night's game against RPI," Bennett said in a statement earlier this week. "The administration, supporters, and loyal fans of both programs deserve and demand better from me. I'm truly sorry for the events that took place after the game."
Bennett will be eligible to return behind the bench February 14 against Cornell.
Appert, who was the person Bennett was trying to reach following RPI's first win in 10 games against Union, will miss Friday's road game against Clarkson. The Engineers will get him back for the Saturday game against St. Lawrence, though.
In addition to the two head coaches, seven players were earlier suspended for their parts in the postgame brawl, which has received countless attention. Dutchmen defenseman Mat Bodie will miss both games this weekend. Six others, including RPI leading scorer Ryan Hagerty and senior defenseman Bo Dolan, are suspended for a single game.
