Ledyard Bank Classic: Air Force, Providence Advance to Final

Hanover, NH -- Air Force and Providence will meet in the championship game of the Ledyard Bank Classic on Monday after each team won their first round game at Thomson Arena.

Air Force defeated Northeastern, 5-2, in a game that the Falcons dominated from start to finish. Mitch Torrel had two goals and Cole Gunner, Ben Carey and Scott Holm each scored once for Frank Serratore's team. Falcons senior goaltender Jason Torf only had to face 16 shots, 14 of which he turned aside.

Air Force will meet Providence, a 3-2 winner over host Dartmouth, in the final at Monday 7 p.m. Senior Derek Army scored twice for the Friars and Ross Mauermann scored the game-winning goal with eight minutes to play in the game. Freshman goalie Nick Ellis, in place of Jon Gillies, made 21 saves.
