Top Midget Organizations Join Forces for Beast Tournament Series

The top midget organizations in the northeast have come together to form the Beast Tournament Series in an effort to provide exposure and competitive hockey.

The founding members include Mid-Fairfield, Neponset Valley River Rats, North Jersey Avalanche and Yale Midget Hockey. Those four organizations will have teams in each division — 15U, 16U and 18U.

The Boston Jr. Eagles will field teams at the 18U and 16U level while Rochester Coalition will have an entrant at the 15U level.

The Philadelphia Jr. Flyers will be an affiliate member, appearing in two of the five showcases. Selects Academy at South Kent will appear in two of the events.

Each team will play a 10-game schedule with a championship series during the last weekend of October. Most games will be played at the Neponset Valley River Rats Jamboree, East Coast Classics Labor Day, Yale Jamboree and Beast Columbus Day Showcase.

The organizations had 70 NCAA Division I commits and six players selected to USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) between them during last season.

The Beast Tournament Series will be great for players, coaches and scouts as it will be the best of the best competing against each other instead of the watered down product there is at most showcases.
