The Yale Midget Hockey program will be hosting its jamboree this weekend across several rinks in southeast Connecticut. The main venue will be the Northford Ice Pavillion with several games at Yale’s Ingalls Rink and Wesleyan’s on campus rink.
There will be 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U teams at the jamboree. In addition to the teams from Yale, the North Jersey Avalanche, Selects Academy at South Kent, Mid-Fairfield, Cape Cod Whalers, Neponset Valley River Rats, Boston Jr. Eagles, Westchester Express and NH Avalanche will be the stronger teams there.
As far as NHL Draft prospects, the 18U field has some some good college players, but outside of Harvard commit Jack Rathbone (CC Whalers), Michigan State recruit Skyler Brind’Amour (Selects Academy) and Tyce Thompson (Yale), there aren’t many players likely to hear their names called next June.
The 16U field will be the best one here, as it usually is, as fewer players have left the region for the USHL.
