Ty Emberson Commits to Wisconsin

On Wednesday, Wisconsin assistant coach Mark Osiecki dropped this tweet:

Those types of cryptic tweets, especially in the college football world, usually come in the wake of a major recruiting victory, as coaches aren't permitted from publicly commenting on recruits until they sign a National Letter of Intent.

That turned out to be the case for the Badgers, who continued their hot streak of recruiting under the new coaching staff of Tony Granato, by picking up a commitment from future NTDP U17 defenseman Ty Emberson.

Emberson is a 2000-born defenseman that played for Eau Claire(WI) Memorial High School last season. He skated with Team USA at the Youth Olympic Games(after a high-profile battle with WIAA), and has been selected to play for the US NTDP U17 team next season.

We ranked Emberson as one of the top five Americans, and the top uncommitted NCAA prospect in his birth year. Emberson's best asset is that he is an outstanding skater with exceptional balance and a strong stride. He's very mature and poised on the ice, and plays an aggressive style without being reckless. He's not a flashy offensive player, but plays a very solid all-around game.

Emberson drew interest from a number of programs, most notably Minnesota, where his grandfather played hockey and baseball.

Emberson is the third 2000-born player to commit to Wisconsin, joining Brady Smith, who committed under the Eaves regime, and Emberson's future NTDP teammate K'Andre Miller, who committed to June.
