Merrimack College coach Mark Dennehy has secured a verbal commitment from Gunnery forward Ethan DeStefani.
The 1999-born right wing was part of the Highlanders' prep school championship squad this past winter. He played right wing on a line with center Gustaf Westlund (Michigan) and left wing Cameron Donaldson (Cornell) in most games this observer saw last winter.
DeStefani, a Bedford, NH native, played for the New Hampshire Junior Monarchs 16U squad before joining the prep ranks for this past season. He's an affiliate player of the Waterloo Black Hawks in the United States Hockey League (USHL).
DeStefani skates well for a big guy his age, listed at six-foot-three, and is able to possess the puck well along the wall. Down the line, he's a player who could compare favorably to current Merrimack players Chris LeBlanc or Hampus Gustafsson.
