Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 2000-born forward Demetrios Koumantzis announced via Twitter that he has verbally committed to play college hockey at Arizona State

Koumantzis is still young, but a major recruiting coup for the Sun Devils. Originally from Edina, Minnesota, Koumantzis was a standout on last year's Edina Bantam AA team alongside current Minnesota commit Ben Brinkman. This season, he moved to Phoenix to play in the T1EHL U16 league, where he is tied for 18th in league scoring with 29 points in 32 games, and ranks fifth among '00 birthdates in scoring.
Koumantzis sometimes struggles with consistency, but has shown high-end offensive potential with explosive skating ability. He is among the top 2000-birthdates in the country and is likely to receive an invite to this spring's NTDP Evaluation Camp.
