Omaha, Neb. -- 40 of the United States Hockey League's top NHL Draft prospects will convene at the Ralston Arena Tuesday night for the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
The fourth edition of the game, showcasing the top draft eligible talent in the premier Tier 1 junior league in North America, will begin at 7:05 CT. There will be a skills competition preceding the event at 6:35 CT. The venue, Ralston Arena, is the home of the Omaha Lancers.
Team East is coached by Dubuque Fighting Saints head coach and former UMass Lowell associate head coach Jason Lammers. Green Bay Gamblers bench boss Pat Mikesch is the assistant coach. Team West is headed by Lincoln Stars coach Chris Hartsburg and assisted by Omaha Lancers coach Brian Kaufman.
In the first three years of the event, 46 players have gone on to be selected in the NHL Draft. Michigan's Kyle Connor and North Dakota's Brock Boeser and Jordan Schmaltz have been first round draft picks coming out of the game. Four past team MVP's of the game, BU's Jacob Forsbacka Karlsson and Robbie Baillargeon, Yale's John Hayden and Penn State's Eamon McAdam, have gone on to hear their names called at the NHL Draft.
