The University of Vermont has been busy on the recruiting trail, receiving commitments from two Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) products in defenseman Brinson Pasichnuk and forward Ryley Risling.

The 1997-born Pasichnuk revealed his commitment via Twitter Wednesday morning, while the 19-year-old Risling made a similar announcement on August 31. Both skaters are currently expected to join the Catamounts for the 2016-17 season.

Pasichnuk is coming off of a successful 2014-15 campaign with the Bonnyville Pontiacs, notching 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) in 56 games while also registering 47 penalty minutes.

For his efforts, the 6-foot blue liner was chosen as a finalist for the AJHL Rookie of the Year Award before receiving the nod as Bonnyville’s Rookie of the Year.

Suiting up in 54 games for the Canmore Eagles last year, Risling scored 46 points, including a team-leading 26 goals. The 6-foot-3 winger will play for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL) this year before reportedly making his move up to Burlington.

Risling has a chance to reunite with one of his former Canmore teammates up in Vermont, as sophomore defenseman Trey Phillips played alongside Risling during the 2013-14 AJHL season.
