The improvement Jack Adams made from his sophomore to junior seasons at Malden Catholic is almost unfathomable. As a sophomore the Boxford, Mass. native was just a lanky kid with some size.
Working with renowned skating guru Paul Vincent, Adams became a much stronger skater and began to round out into his big frame. He learned how to use his size to his advantage and wheel around the offensive zone, using his edges and lowering his center of gravity.
For a big guy he has above average hands and can get some shots on net that not many others at the high school level could.
Playing against largely inferior talent in the Massachusetts high school ranks, it wasn't always easy to determine how good he truly was, but he started to draw serious interest from several ECAC Hockey and Hockey East schools before eventually committing to Princeton.
Adams turned some heads and had some scouts talking after his strong showing at the Fargo Force main camp earlier this month. He had a few highlight reel goals and didn't look out of place against many players who had been used to better competition than he was from the high school level.
If Adams is picked, it will be in the later rounds, and it will be a team banking on his continued growth as a player. His progression in just one year and his size is certainly intriguing for some NHL organizations. There are a few teams that have been linked to Adams so it's a possibility the future Princeton Tiger will be selected.
