WHL Bantam Draft: Ryan Savage

Name: Ryan Savage

Position: Forward

2014-2015 team: Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U16

2014-2015 stats: 23 games 6-7-13

Savage is the son of former Miami Hobey Baker finalist and NHL veteran Brian Savage. He played up an age-level at the U16 level this past season in one of the toughest U16 AAA leagues in the country.

Savage shows an excellent skating pattern, crossing his feet over to build and maintain high speed. He also shows exceptional hands and the ability to make skill plays in tight spaces and high-traffic areas.

The biggest issue he faced this season was handling the physicality of his older, much more mature competition. He's listed at about 5'9" 150 lbs. and was often neutralized by bigger players. His father was 6'2", however, and if Savage gains that type of size, he has the ability, especially with his hands to be a very dynamic offensive talent.
