The Saint John Seadogs of the QMJHL announced that they have signed Lake Superior State commit Nico Blachman, thus ending his NCAA eligibility.
Blachman. a '98 birthdate that is eligible for the NHL Draft this season, is originally from Hollywood, Florida, though has been a hockey nomad for the past few years, playing at Shattuck-St. Mary's, for a Toronto AAA team, and with the Omaha AAA Lancers last season. This season, he played 7 games with the Chicago Steel of the USHL without registering a point.
At 6'2" 194 lbs., Blachman is a power forward that plays a tough, physical style. He's expected to join the Seadogs line-up immediately.He was expected to join the Lakers either next season or the year after, leaving the Lakers plenty of time to find a suitable replacement.
