Selects Academy '98-born defenseman Andrew Peeke announced via Twitter on Sunday that he has verbally committed to Notre Dame:
Proud and honored to announce my commitment to play college hockey at The University of Notre Dame. #GoFightingIrish

Peeke is originally a native of Parkland, Florida, a northern suburb of Miami, but moved to the Selects Academy/South Kent Prep to continue his hockey career.
Peeke was selected to attend the US NTDP Tryout Camp this past April. Though he wasn't selected by the NTDP team, he was selected in the second round of the USHL Futures Draft by the Green Bay Gamblers, and the Ottawa 67's acquired his OHL rights with the 298th pick in the OHL Draft.
Peeke also participated in the USA Hockey National Select 16 Festival over the summer in New York. His performance at that camp was exceptional enough to be selected for the US Select 17 team, which took second place at the Five Nations Tournament in Crimmitschau, Germany.
SBN College Hockey's Jeff Cox was at the National Select 16 Festival, and rated Peeke as the 6th-best defenseman at the camp. Here was his scouting report:
6. Andrew Peeke (#3 Royal) 6-2/195 Selects Academy U16 - He has a lot of potential with the physical tools he has. He's a good skater and plays a simple yet impactful game in the defensive zone. He has a nice slap shot and was solid on the power play.
Peeke is the second defenseman out of the '98 birth year to commit to Notre Dame, joining NTDP U17 defenseman Matt Hellickson, who committed to the Irish last June.
