Casey Mittelstadt Commits to Minnesota

Eden Prairie HS '98-born forward Casey Mittelstadt announced via Twitter on Thursday evening that he has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota:

Mittelstadt has yet to play a game of high school hockey, but he was the top bantam player in the state of Minnesota last year, and an impressive summer and fall Elite League has made him one of the top prospects in the state.

We mentioned Mittlestadt as a standout at this summer's Minnesota Hockey Model Camp:

Casey Mittelstadt, '98+, Eden Prairie HS- Mittelstadt was the best bantam in the state last year, and should be a huge scorer at the high school level this coming season. Great release on his shot makes him an effective goal scorer.

He's continued scoring goals in the Elite League this fall for Team Southeast:

The forwards overall aren't as strong for Southeast, but their line of Casey Mittelstadt-Odeen Tufto-Nick Swaney(Minnesota Duluth) was hands-down the best in the league. Swaney's hockey sense, Tufto's quickness, and Mittelstadt's shooting ability give that line an incredible chemistry.

And just yesterday, we mentioned Mittelstadt's impressive performance at the NAHL Showcase, and that he was likely to be committing soon:

Casey Mittelstadt-F-Elite League SE-He flew under-the-radar a bit in his draft year because he played Bantam hockey rather than high school, but he's been tearing up the Elite League on Team Southeast with linemates Odeen Tufto and Nick Swaney. He's a natural goalscorer, and should be making a college commitment fairly soon.
