Mark Senden Commits to North Dakota

Matt Dewkett

Wayzata(MN) High School '98-born forward Mark Senden announced via Twitter on Tuesday evening that he has verbally committed to North Dakota:

Senden is an aggressive, two-way forward that has developed nicely over the past year. Jeff Cox ranked Senden as the 42nd-best forward at this summer's Select 16 Festival. Here was his write-up on Senden:

42. Mark Senden (#10 Gold) 5-10/175 Wayzata High School - He's on the smaller side and projects as a third or fourth line player in college who could be a good penalty kill specialist. He was tenacious and got his stick in lanes on the backend. Offensively he's more of a setup guy in the attacking zone.

After the Select 16 Festival, Senden was selected to play for the US Select 17 team that played in the Five Nations Cup in Germany over the summer.

We also watched Senden play at this summer's Minnesota Hockey Model Camp and had a similar assessment of his game:

Mark Senden, '98, Wayzata HS-I don't think he'll be a big scorer at the college level, but he's really developed the physical aspect of his game over the past year, and should make an excellent two-way forward at the next level.

Senden is currently playing in the Upper Midwest Elite League, where we predicted it was just a matter of time before he made a college commitment. As it turns out, that happened sooner rather than later.
