Following a strong showing at the recent USA Hockey Select 16 Festival, Hingham High School/Dexter Prep '98-born defenseman Luke McInnis announced via Twitter on Friday that he has verbally committed to Boston College.
Excited to announce my commitment to play college hockey at Boston college #blessed

It's no surprise to see McInnis pledge to the Eagles. His father Marty starred at Boston College for three seasons in the early '90s before a long NHL career. Marty McInnis also served as a volunteer assistant coach on Jerry York's staff at Boston College last season.
As for the younger McInnis, SBN College Hockey's Jeff Cox ranked McInnis as the fourth-best fdefenseman at last week's Select 16 Festival. Here was his scouting report of McInnis:
4. Luke McInnis (#4 Columbia) 5-10/170 Hingham High School/Dexter Prep - This was by far the most impressed I've been with him. I had seen him during the high school season and thought he was a good player, but not this good. He is a terrific skater, always has his head up looking for an outlet pass. He makes smart plays and doesn't try to do too much. He's a good power play QB who needs to be a little more consistently strong in his own end.
Following the camp, McInnis was selected to play for the US at the Five Nations tournament later this summer in Germany.
