William Fallstrom, a 1998-born forward from Djurgarden in Sweden, announced via Twitter that he as committed to Minnesota:
I'm really excited to have committed to the University of Minnesota and I can't wait to be a Gopher #Gophers
— William Fällström (@wfallstrom16) June 19, 2014
Fallstrom played for Djurgarden's U18 squad last season, where he averaged about a point per game. Fallstrom is the third player from Sweden to commit to the Gophers in the past season, after Leon Bristedt committed this past November, and Robin Hoglund committted this past February.
Fallstrom does have some North American connections, however. His older brother Alex starred at Shattuck-St. Mary's before playing NCAA hockey for Harvard. Alex is now a member of the Boston Bruins organization, having played last season with the Bruins AHL affiliate in Providence. Should the younger Fallstrom come over to North American prior to enrolling with the Gophers, he was selected in the fifth round of this year's USHL Futures Draft by the Omaha Lancers.
