Oakland Jr. Grizzlies U16 forward Will Lockwood announced via Twitter on Friday night that he has verbally committed to Michigan:
Proud to announce my commitment to the University of Michigan. Thanks go out to all my friends, family members and the boys of @OJGu16AAA
— Will Lockwood (@lockwood_will) April 4, 2014
Lockwood recently participated in the NTDP Evaluation Camp for the top '98 players in the country. Lockwood is a smaller forward, listed at 5'6" 130 lbs., but has good hands, and plays with excellent hockey sense, which made him a top forward in the Tier I Elite League's competitive U16 division this past winter.
It's no surprise to see Lockwood make his commitment to Michigan. His father Joe played four years for Red Berenson at Michigan in the mid-80s, and apparently the Berenson and Lockwood families have stayed close:
Like to congratulate my life long friend @lockwood_will on committing to Michigan! My grandpa made the right choice.
