Elk River High School sophomore defenseman Matt Kiersted announced via Twitter today that he has verbally committed to North Dakota:
Proud and excited to announce that I have committed to play my college hockey at the University of North Dakota! Thank you for the support
— Matt Kiersted (@MKiersted) April 19, 2014
Kiersted is a '98-born offensive defenseman that recently participated in the NTDP's Evaluation Camp.
Kiersted is a pure offensive defenseman with great puck skills and scoring instincts. He's got some room to development in the defensive end, but is one of the best in his age between the red line and the opposing net. He scored 6 goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 24 regular season games with the Elks this season.
Kiersted is the second '98 to commit to North Dakota, joining Mitchell Mattson, who committed to UND earlier this week.
