Three weeks ago, outgiong Wisconsin senior forward Michael Mersch signed a contract with the Los Angeles Kings. But the Badgers won't be without a Mersch in their line-up for long. On Saturday, Mersch's younger brother Dominick announced via Twitter that he will follow in his brother's footsteps by committing to Wisconsin:
Honored to announce my commitment to The University of Wisconsin. Thank you to everyone who has helped me and proud to be a badger!
— Dominick Mersch (@dommersch) April 19, 2014
Mersch is a '98 born forward that played last season for the extremely talented Chicago Mission U16 team. Mersch earned an invitation to last month's NTDP Evaluation Camp for the top '98-born players in the country.
For those familiar with his older brother, Dominick has similar build to Michael, but plays a much different style of game. He doesn't have Michael's deft scoring touch around the net, but has much better foot speed than Michael did.
Mersch becomes the second '98 to commit to the Badgers, joining Trent Frederic, who pledged to the Badgers earlier this week.
