It was announced today that St. Louis Jr. Blues U16 forward Trent Frederic has verbally committed to Wisconsin for the 2016-2017 season.
Frederic was the leading scorer on the Jr. Blues, one of the top U16 teams in the country this year. He scored 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 37 Tier I Elite League games for the Blues this season. Frederic is listed at 6-2 180 lbs., and has great hands to along with his size.
Here's what we wrote about Frederic after watching him at this year's Tier 1 Elite League Playoffs this past February:
Trent Frederic-F-St. Louis Blues- A big kid with really soft hands. Incredibly smooth for a player his size and age. He kind of reminds me of James van Riemsdyk as a younger player.
Frederic was recently drafted in the sixth round of the OHL Priority Selection by the Niagara Ice Dogs, though it seems unlikely he would consider that route, at least in the near future. Frederic has signed on to skate for the NTDP U17 program next season, and will likely play two years in Ann Arbor before heading to Madison.
