Grand Rapids(MN) High School sophomore forward Mitchell Mattson announced via Twitter on Tuesday evening that he has verbally committed to North Dakota:
Proud to announce that I have committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota! Thanks to everyone for the support! #Sioux
— Mitchell Mattson (@M_A_T_T_S_O_N) April 15, 2014
Mattson is a '98-born forward listed at 6'3' 175 lbs. He scored 11 goals and 26 assists in 25 regular season games for the Thunderhawks this past season. After the season, he was invited to the NTDP's Evaluation Camp for the top players in the '98 age group.
Mattson is a very lanky forward that is just beginning to fill out his big frame, but moves very smoothly for his size, and is just starting to scratch the surface of his enormous potential.
His older sister Sidney is also verbally committed to North Dakota to play volleyball.
