Hill Academy(Ontario) defenseman Ethan Spaxman announced via Twitter on Monday that he has committed to Merrimack College:
Dreams do come true! More than happy to announce my commitment to Merrimack College! Thanks! @MC_Athletics @merrimack
— Ethan Spaxman (@Spax81) April 14, 2014
Spaxman is a late-'96-born 6'3" 175 lbs defenseman. He's played the past two years at Hill Academy, a Shattuck-St. Mary's-like boarding school in Ontario. He's on the affiliate list of the Fargo Force in the USHL, and played a pair of games for the Force late in the season. It's likely Spaxman will play next season for the Force before heading to Merrimack in 2015-2016.
Sean LaFortune of TheScout.ca describes Spaxman as a "a big, rangy defender with shutdown potential." With his combination of size and skating ability, Spaxman will likely start the year on the radar of a lot of NHL teams for the 2015 NHL Draft.
