Chicago Mission U14 forward Sean Dhooghe announced via Twitter on Saturday night that he has verbally committed to Ohio State:
Proud to announce my commitment to Ohio State University! Thanks to all who helped me. I look forward to being a buckeye with my brother
— Sean Dhooghe (@sean_dhooghe) April 13, 2014
Dhooghe is making reference to his older brother Jason, who committed to the Buckeyes this past September.
Sean Dhooghe is a '99-born forward, and considered one of the most talented players in his age group. He led the High Performance Hockey League's Bantam Major division in scoring this year with 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points on a stacked Mission team, that finished runner-up to Shattuck-St. Mary's at the Tier I U14 nationals this year. He's got elite puck-handling skills and is a very smart offensive player.
If there's one concern about Dhooghe, it is his size. Eliteprospects lists him at just 5'3" 113=9 lbs., and while he'll certainly grow some between now and 2017 when he's scheduled to arrive on campus in Columbus, he'll still likely be an extremely small player.
