Selects Academy U16 defenseman Aaron McPheters announced via Twitter on Saturday that he has verbally committed to play hockey at Alaska-Anchorage:
Proud to announce my commitment to the University of Alaska Anchorage. Big thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. #goseawolves

McPheters is a '97 born defenseman that is playing out on the east coast with Selects Academy, but is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. Listed at 5'8" 146 lbs., McPheters is a speedy, puck-moving defenseman.
It's a big recruiting victory for the Seawolves in that they've traditionally struggled to keep homegrown players from heading elsewhere to play college hockey. But a renewed commitment to drawing in local players after last year's coaching change appears to be paying dividends for the Seawolves.
