Van Barr Commits to Western Michigan

The Broncos add a second player from the Omaha U16 program this week.

Days after his teammate Wade Allison committed to Western Michigan, Omaha U16 forward Van Barr announced via Twitter that he will joining Allison in Kalamazoo:

Yes, his Twitter handle really is @Flow_Wizard_97.

Barr is a '97 birthdate from Kansas City, Missouri. Last season, he played up with the Russell Stover(Kansas City) U18 team, where he put up respectable numbers for a player his age, but largely went unnoticed while playing against much older competition. This season, he moved to Omaha to play for the Jr Lancers U16 team, where he has had a breakout season playing on Omaha's top line and scoring 115 points in 73 games according to his team. Barr is a smaller, play-making forward that quarterbacks Omaha's top power play unit and isn't afraid to shoot the puck.

Barr was passed over in last year's USHL Future's Draft, which makes him a  USHL free agent, and likely a high pick in this year's USHL Entry Draft.
