The day after a heart-breaking overtime loss in the sectional final to Eden Prairie, Benilde-St. Margaret's junior defenseman Ben Newhouse announced via Twitter that he has committed to play college hockey at Union:
I'm extremely honored and excited to announce my commitment to play college hockey at Union College! #Dutchmen
— Ben Newhouse (@Baine6) February 27, 2014
Newhouse is a '97 born defenseman. He's a smaller, offensive-minded defenseman that plays with blazing fast straight-line speed, and is difficult to knock off the puck. He finished his high school season with 5 goals and 28 assists for 33 points in 24 regular season games. We had Newhouse ranked as one of the top-10 juniors in Minnesota high school hockey to start the season.
He is on the affiliate list of the Waterloo Blackhawks in the USHL after being selected by Waterloo in the 5th round of last year's USHL Future's Draft.
