Harvard University hockey coach Ted Donato has received a commitment from '97 defenseman Nicholas Azar of the Honeybaked 18U program. An affiliate player of the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks, Azar is a big, sturdy blue liner standing in at six-feet-three and weighing in just north of 200.
Azar, a Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. native, has his Ontario Hockey League (OHL) rights owned by the Barrie Colts. He is a former University of Michigan baseball commit. His expected arrival in Cambridge is for the 2016-17 season after a full season in the USHL. Second year Harvard assistant coach Rob Rassey, a Michigan native, was supposedly instrumental in landing Azar.
