Deerfield Academy Forward Trevor Yates Commits to Cornell

Cornell coach Mike Schafer received a verbal commitment from Deerfield Academy senior Trevor Yates on Friday.

Deerfield Academy senior forward Trevor Yates has committed to play college hockey at Cornell University for head coach Mike Schafer. The Beaconsfield, Quebec native is entering his third season at the western Massachusetts prep school.

The 1995-born Yates will arrive at Cornell in the fall of 2014. Yates is a left-shot forward with good size. He also plays for the Neponset Valley River Rats split-season midget team. Yates, who has put up a point per game or higher at Deerfield, projects as a scoring threat in the ECAC.
