Two New England prep school players committed to college programs the past two days. Philips Andover defenseman Connor Light committed to defending ECAC Tournament Champion Union College.
"He has quick feet and good skill for a guy that big," said his prep coach, Dean Boylan. "He steps up into the play well. He has a heavy shot. He had a hat trick in one game for us," added Boylan, a former college player at Yale.
Light will play for the Omaha Lancers in the USHL this upcoming season before heading to Schenectady to play for the Dutchmen.
It is the second recruiting commitment for Union this month. Last week, high-scoring center Roman Ammirato verbally committed to Rick Bennett's program.
New University of Connecticut coach Mike Cavanaugh picked up a highly skilled center from the Belmont Hill School. USHR reporter Will Golonka has chosen to play his college hockey at UConn. USHR described him on twitter as a "BC type" player. Cavanaugh, the new Connecticut coach had been the associate coach at Boston College for the past 18 seasons.
