McLain is a 6'0" 185 lbs. late '93 birthdate that starred at Brainerd High School in Minnesota before moving on to the BCHL last year. After a slow start adjusting to junior hockey last year in Langley, McLain finished the year strong, ending with 14-18-32 scoring line in 54 games. He was voted Langley's team captain for this upcoming season.
There will be some familiar faces for McLain when he reaches Bowling Green's campus next season. Bowling Green assistant coach Ty Eigner coached at Brainerd High School prior to taking the assistant's job at Bowling Green. Also, McLain's linemate at Brainerd, Matt Pohlkamp, will be a freshman with the Falcons this upcoming season.
