Ryan Edquist Commits to Minnesota

Minnesota gets a commit from a talented, but young goalie.

Ryan Edquist, a 1998-born goalie, originally from Lakeville, Minnesota, that plays at Shattuck-St. Mary's announced this afternoon via Twitter that he has verbally committed to play for Minnesota:

Edquist is considered to be among the top 1998-born goalies in the country. In 35 games last year with Shattuck, Edquist compiled a 22-2-2-1 record with a 1.343 goals against average and .933 save percentage. Edquist has very good size for a player his age, as well as solid athleticism to back it up. He wasn't often strenuously tested playing on such a strong Shattuck team, but performed well this summer, including at the US National Select 15 Camp.

Edquist is the second '98 born player to commit to Minnesota, joining Shattuck teammate Ryan Lindgren as a future Gopher. As talented as Edquist is, it's still surprising to see a team commit to a goalie at such a young age when goalies traditionally develop much later.
