Wisconsin secured a commitment from their goalie of the future today when 1997-born goalie Luke Opilka announced via Twitter that he had verbally committed to the Badgers:
Very honored and proud to announce my commitment to the university of Wisconsin #Badger
— Luke opilka (@Lopi917) August 26, 2013
Opilka played last season as the top goalie with the very strong St. Louis Blues AAA midget minor program, where he played alongside another Badger commit in forward Luke Kunin. Opilka will also join Kunin next season as a member of the NTDP U17 team. Standing at 6'2", Opilka is a bigger goalie that uses his size and solid positioning to make saves. Andy Baggott of the Wisconsin State Journal tweeted this evening that Opilka ultimately chose the Badgers over an offer from Ohio State.
